JOHN TAKES PICTURE OF OUR WEDDING |
I was on a mission that day. Robison service was advertising in the competition and I wanted them in my magazine as well. As I pulled into the lot, a tall bearded guy with wild hair and thick glasses came out the front door. Sizing up my mini-van, he growled, “What do you want?” I thought that was kind of rude, but I bit back a sarcastic reply, and smiled.
“I’m here to get you to advertise in my magazine,” I said smoothly. I knew I was taking a chance, but I figured anybody this rude had to be the owner, or else he’d be fired.
“Why would I want to do that?” Still growling, he was looking intensely at my feet. Did he have a foot fetish? I wasn’t sure, but ready to turn that to my advantage, I pressed on.
Because you’d reach some rich business owners that probably need their Mercedes fixed. That’s what you do here, right?”
“We don’t need to advertise, everybody already knows we are here," he said. I held out my hand, and smiled again.
“I’m Maripat, from Business Digest.”
“Hunh,” he grunted, and turned around to walk back into the building. Having built a career on not taking no for an answer, I followed right behind.
Twenty plus years later we got married.
You gotta love a woman willing to take advantage of a foot fetish. Good start, Maripat!
ReplyDeleteNow that's a strange beginning for a great romance. Bet there's never a dull moment in the Robison household!
ReplyDeleteOooo, you can't leave the story hanging! Please write a Part 2!
ReplyDeleteThat's exactly what I'm telling myself right now!!!
Delete20+ years! Can't wait to find out how it developed...I'm guessing day one isn't what clinched it. ;-)
ReplyDeleteYou're a tease, Maripat. Tell us more! That's one part of your life John has not told us about. The rest of your private life is public knowledge. HAHhaha!
ReplyDeleteI want a part 2 as well!
